Garbage and Recycling
Orion Waste Solutions collects curbside trash once a week, generally on Mondays, however some holidays change the normal scheduled pickup. to schedule trash service, please contact our City Clerk’s office by phone at 785.876.2550 or by email.
LRS incorporates, Orion, Inland and DITCH trash services. Any of these companies may pick up your trash.
LRS Holiday Schedule
- Memorial Weekend: All routes will be picked up one day late
- Independence day: All routes will be picked up one day late
- Labor Day: All routes will be picked up one day late
- Thanksgiving Day: All routes will be picked up one day late
- Christmas Day: All routes will be picked up one day late
- New Years 2024: All routes will be picked up one day late
TRASH CONTAINERS:
Extra containers will cost each household an extra $3.00 per month.
All trash is required to be placed in suitable trash bags and we ask that they be contained within a container with a secure lid to prevent animals from being able to disturb until it is collected by the trash service. The following trash containers are available to rent:
Residential Containers: The cost is $3.00 per month for a 95 gallon cart. LRS bills separately for the containers.
Construction Box: S.M. Ball offers 15, 20, 30 & 40 yard roll-offs. For more information, Call Shawn Ball at 785.393.1051.

To dispose of hazardous waste products (insecticides, pesticides, paint, motor oil, etc.), the County Shop in Oskaloosa may be contacted at 785.863.2581
CITY BURN PILE:
Located behind the old city maintenance building on the west side of Kiowa Drive. You may burn leaves, tree limbs and brush ONLY. NO TRASH or other items are to be burned in the burn pile. This service is available as a courtesy to our adult residents only (no children allowed near the burn site). Please use caution when adding items to the burn pile (embers may look cool, but can be extremely hot) and be respectful not to add unacceptable items.
RECYCLING:
Please contact LRS directly for recycling containers and service at 785) 232-9168 .
